What a great tour the boys had in October 2008. Brendan was in fine voice (truly divine) and the guitar solos simmered upwards over the length of the tour. Stu and Michael were on form from the word go and simarly maintained an upwards directory, peaking at the Toff In Town in Melbourne with support from Dave Graney and Clare Moore and The Lurid Yellow Mist who were out of this world.

Thanks to all who attended the shows and may there be many more good times. As Stu mentioned on ABC Gold Coast FM, "all we need is a little encouragement..." Cheers! Till Next Time.

For The Uninitiated...

Since 1995 Karma County have been making some of the best and most original music in Australia. Arriving on stage in those early days around Sydney with just a snare drum, acoustic guitar and double bass, they foreshadowed the acoustic roots movement that has become an essential element of contemporary music. Since those small beginnings they have waltzed their way into the hearts and minds of music fans, and critics, all over the world with five outstanding and timeless albums.

From the initial acoustic strummings of Postcard to the funky, latino twang of Dexter & Sinistra, Karma County have ranged across an eclectic musical terrain to conjure their own sonic landscape - lush, melodious, thoughtful, emotive.

Over a decade later original members singer/guitarist Brendan Gallagher, bassist Michael Galeazzi and drummer Stuart Eadie are still together making their distinctive sound.

“The untold pieces of the legend roll onto one more for the true believers: the Reels and the Platters, the B-sides and reshuffles, and the languid live mementoes from impossibly calm, clear and fragrant outposts that still sound like somewhere else entirely.” – Michael Dwyer, July 2008

Karma County are without a doubt one of Australia’s finest bands and Headland is testimony to this, reflecting on and adding to their extraordinary body of work… their unique and eclectic journey continues and travels to new heavenly heights.

Old News

Karma County are happy to announce that a limited number of their 4th album, the ever popular –
Happy Birthday Dear Customer
is now available through Vitamin Records.

Released in 2001 the collection includes includes 12 eclectic tracks featuring the powerful 'Where Could I Go But Home' which was written around the time of the suicides of STU Eadie's good mates from the Whitlams – Stevie Plunder then later Andy Lewis. www.suicideawareness.com.au

It also features the summer inspired "The Sea Is A Siren" a tune that made it into the Australian cinema release of the movie 'Clubland'. The album was co-produced and engineered by Tim Witten and of course front man, guitarist and singer songwriter Brendan Gallagher ('Ol Brendo to his nearest and dearest). Tim Whitten has worked on three Karma County albums including Into The Land Of Promise and the latest release, Pacifico also available through vitamin records»

Contrary To Popular Belief

Karma County have not broken up. They've just been waiting for their time comes around again. (ie when someone shows a sign that KC are missed enough for them to think someone really does care). So in the meantime, Brendo, Michael and Stu have re-grouped to work on a couple of new tracks intended for the long awaited retrospective album.
A version of the Yazoo classic Only You and a re-working of one of Brendans old Songs, Cold (working title) are in the can.

Latest Gig

...was the delightful wedding of our most impressive fan, Sarah, who got up with the band and faultlessly delivered the spoken word part of Dexter & Sinestra. The band were treated to the best food, surrounds and good folk you are likely to meet. Great time had by all. Big thanks to all involved. To see what Sarah does for a living, click here»

Karma In Clubland

More exciting news is that two KC tracks have made the final cut of the Australian smash flick 'Clubland'. (AKA Introducing the Dwights outside of Australia) - starring Brenda Blethyn, Khan Chittenden, Emma Booth, Cherie Nowlan. A big heads up to our mate Scotty who championed the cause, placing the tunes Absolutely Away from the album Pacifico (in the sad break up moment) and The Sea Is A Siren from Happy Birthday Dear Customer... wait for it... in a sex scene. Woo Hoo. May this little ripper of a movie go gang busters and people all over the world have a nice long swig of Australiana.

BRYAN BROWN in KARMA COUNTY Film Clip

Track two on the latest KC album Pacifico features the voice of Aussie screen legend Bryan Brown who tells the story of Dexter and Sinistra, a tale capturing the grit, glory and complexities of a suburban love affair. The asphalt tinged tones of Brown are the perfect foil to the warm liquid melodies from the County – an album highlight.

You may have already seen the accompanying film clip for Dexter and Sinistra.

Directed by Sean Kennedy and wonderfully executed by a close knit bunch of friends and professionals known as More Please Productions (also responsible for previous KC film clips Postcard and I told You So and a very endearing clip for King Curly's Wish I Was A Girl).

Mr Brown was a trooper on the set, keeping spirits up amongst the actors band and crew over the two day shoot and provided inspirational lip sync performances from a self confessed 'actor,... not a singer'.
