BRENDAN GALLAGHER has been writing and playing music for over twenty years. His talents extend beyond his main love the guitar and include piano, drums, percussion and bouzouki. In 1994 he published THE OPEN TUNING CHORD BOOK FOR GUITAR and is currently editing the second edition for release probably early next year.

KARMA COUNTY was originally the name of Brendan's home studio - the ubiquitous spare room of his Bondi apartment. It was there that the first KC album LAST STOP HEAVENLY HEIGHTS took shape and later, after digital updating, the second album OLANA found a home as well as all subsequent Albums.

In 1996, by chance Gallagher stumbled upon a rare city performance of legendary Aboriginal performer Jimmy Little. Mesmerised by Jimmy's warm presence and inimitable vocal style, there began a creative relationship that culminated in the release in June 1999 of the critically acclaimed album MESSENGER; a collection of seminal Australian compositions (Crowded House, Nick Cave, Ed Kuepper, the Church etc.) produced by Brendan and featuring fellow Karma County members and other local music talent. MESSENGER went on to win Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 1999 ARIA awards (Australia's Grammys) and saw Jimmy inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

In September 1999 Brendan was invited by British producer Marius de Vries (Bjork, Neil Finn) to play guitar on his re-mix of DAVID BOWIE's 'Survive'. The song, from Bowie's most recent 'Hours' album, was released as a single in Europe and the UK in January 2000.
